Spring
Garden Music Spring Garden Music is the label home of Jack Wright and company. He has been on tour continuously for over 20 years, prompting some to dub him the Johnny Appleseed of free improvisation. Or as the Washington Post said in April 2001, "In the rarefied, underground world of experimental free improvisation, saxophonist Jack Wright is king." To this end, he regularly visits and explores sound with over fourty partners around the globe. While experiencing the live venue is vital to understanding his music, these recordings are a way of furthering that understanding of these meetings of exporation. "What I want is this: a music done for the love of playing, a music of intense pleasure, polymorphous, naive, risking itself for its own sake. A music that goes beyond our ordinary level of playing and doing. This music is here for us and won't deceive oru hope if we give everything to it." -- Jack Wright, written in 1983 at the creation of Spring Garden Music in Philadelphia.
