Crew's Choice Selection
Albert Ayler
The Copenhagan Tapes

   Albert Ayler (tenor saxophone)
   Don Cherry (trumpet)
   Gary Peacock (bass)

Sunny Murray (drums)

The first official release of The Copenhagan Tapes on CD.  And the first new album to be licensed by the Albert Ayler Estate in a long, long time.  In fact, if you check the discographies, there hasn't been any new legitimate material released since 1970....unbelieveable.

From one of the strongest free jazz quartets of the 1960s, The Copenhagan Tapes features six tracks recorded at Club Montmartre on September 3, 1964 and three tracks recorded in the studio by Danish Radio on September 10, 1964.

As Gary Peacock says, "This isn't music for a specific purpose, for instance to listen or dance to, it just IS."

Comes with our highest recommendation.
