An Ear For A Leg An Ear For A Leg features music that was originally written for a dance performance context. Such music is rarely heard outside the commissioning theater and this collection provides a rare opportunity to hear these unusual works by some of New York's finest experimental composers. Unfettered by the commercial pressures that bedevil much recorded music, the dance context has allowed these composers to delve far into the extremes of creative impulse. Ranging from found-sound or musique concrete manipulations, to analog and digital synthesis, to electronica and ambient, to improvisational scores, the collaborative natures of the works give them a mysterious, haunting formality when heard on their own. Much more than a simple compilation, the pieces have been sequenced and mastered to produced two CD-length soundscapes in which the individual pieces by different composers become part of a larger composition. 32 tracks in 145 minutes. Beautiful handcrafted packaging. Comes highest recommendation. :::>>> Tell A Friend About This CD From Drimala If you like this cd, you might also enjoy listening to: Itadakimasu (Brett Larner duets) Ornaments (music of Allison Cameron) The Test Tubes (Israelievitch, Reitzenstein, Stewart, Young) Alogos (music of Bradshaw Pack) Two Brothers (Boxhead Ensemble) The World Turned Upside Down (Rowe, Müller, Sagimoto) do (Nakamura and Sachiko M) Distant Wind (Mei Han and Raine-Reusch) |
