Cutting Off the Edge of Time Cutting Off the Edge of Time features the duet improvisations of tenor saxophonist Steve Nelson-Raney and drummer Jon Mueller. Beautifully recorded during an evening session at Penumbra Music by Chris Rosenau (Jon Mueller's partner in the groups Pele, Telecognac, and Collections of Colonies of Bees), these duets demonstrate their unique collective voice, carving out common ground in a set of seven closely attentive duets. On drums and tenor saxophone, the sharpness of their attack and quickness of their interplay are vivid celebrations of the elasticity of time and the fluidity of dialogue. The titles of this disc and of these seven improvisations are inspired by the poem "Falling" by Bob Kaufman, published in his City Lights collection Golden Sardine (1975). Comes with our highest recommendation. 7 tracks in 50:25 minutes. Limited edition of 500. :::>>> Tell A Friend About This CD From Drimala If you like this cd, you might also enjoy listening to: Grand Marquis (McFee and McClellan) Breathing (Steve Nelson-Raney and Hal Rammel) Vintage Duets (Anderson and McCall) The Grass Is Greener (Bennink and Parker) Emancipation Proclamation (Drake and McPhee) The Dried Rat-Dog (Brötzmann and Drake) Soul Bodies (Drake and Tsahar) Shooters and Bowlers (Butcher and Heminway) Live At the Glenn Miller Cafe (Doyle and Murray) The Eighth House: Riding with Pluto (Harrison and Santos) Points, Snags and Windings (Butcher and van der Schyff) |
