Selected Clips: "Wick Hijmans is that rare musician, a visionary performer who has changed the face of the instrument he plays. Not content to treat the electric guitar as a vehicle for popular music, Wiek has taken on the dual challenge of developing a new repertoire and develping new techniques to perform those works. In synthesizing many of the centuries-old techniques of guitar playing wiht the new sonic possibilities offered by the electric guitar, Wiek has opened up a brave new world for the contemporary composer and listener. How fortunate we are to have this, his first solo CD, as evidence of his path-breaking work." -- David Starobin, NY |
Electric Solo As of the world's leading contemporary classical guitar players, Hijmans is paving new pathways with the electric guitar in many of the same ways as Muddy Waters did half a century ago. On this debut solo cd, Wiek brings his influences from jazz and rock together with a sensibility stemming from extensive experience as an improviser to create a truely unique listening experience. For a truly unique and enjoyable listening experience, this disc comes with our highest recommendation. 15 tracks in 46:02 minutes :::>>> Tell A Friend About This CD From Drimala You might also enjoy listening to: Waters In Azure (Steffen Basho Junghans) Green Wood (Roger Smith) From Next to Last (John Russell) Amen (Keith Yuan Quartet) |
