Interzone CD Cover

Interzone
   Gregg Bendian (vibraphone & glockenspiel)
   Alex Cline (drums & percussion)
   Mark Dresser (bass)
   Nels Cline (guitar)

Bendian is known primarily for his work as an improvising percussionist with Derek Bailey and Cecil Taylor. This release, the debut recording of his group Interzone, should go a long way toward establishing him as a group leader, composer, and vibes player of the first order.   Rigorous and swinging compositionally based music with some kind of prog-rock slant, played by an exquisitely versatile ensemble.

"a strange and totally cool avant-jazz rejoinder to the promise of prog rock, interzone is unrelenting in its pursuit of deep-beauty and the veneer of complexity." -- Father Yod

"no vibes record has done as much for me since i can remember." -- Cadence

"top 5 albums of 1997" -- Cadence readers poll

"one of the most daring and satisfying music releases of 1997." -- EXclaim

"file under: oddities" -- The Wire
