6 Dialogues CD Cover

6 Dialogues

Trevor Watts (soprano and alto saxophones)

Veryan Weston (piano)

6 Dialogues is the first recording by these two longtime friends and finds Watts once again returning to his improvising roots.  Since the early 80s, Watts has assembled several Moiré Music groups.  These drum-centric ensembles integrated African and Middle Eastern polyrhythms with modern jazz improvisation and Celtic traditional melodies to create a joyous new sound: a sound that was far removed from the watered-down exotica known as 'world beat.'  As for Weston, well once again he shows why he is in the forefront of the handful of free improvising pianists that are leading the charge away from Taylor's all pervasive influence.

On this series of duets, Weston and Watts develop an organic conversational quality in a pure free flow of ideas and emotions.   Comes with our highest recommendation!

"Complex but lyrical, Trevor Watts and Veryan Weston's music is the kind of listening that easily transcends any boundary and/or genre.  It's obviously deriving from something you could call jazz, but its more like a photograph of two friends, happy to talk to each other the more they can.  Both men come from distinguished careers in several artistic realms; both make sure to entertain us for the whole length of this excellent disc." -- Massimo Ricci
