Desert Sweets CD Cover

Biggi Vinkeloe is a Sweden-based alto saxophonist and flute player of immense energy and creativity.   She has developed her own style, an uncompromising style of playing with drive and solidness, a balancing between irresistible strength and sparkling lyricism.  In the male-dominated world of improvised music, Vinkeloe is a woman making vital contributions to music.

Since 1988, she has played and recorded with drummer Peeter Uuskyla.  Since 2000, her normal touring trio includes Peeter and Peter Friis Nielsen on bass.  They have performed with Cecil Taylor, Barre Phillips, Peter Kowald, Joel Futterman, Georg Wolf touring throughout Europe and the US.

As Adam Lane writes in the liners about this recording "The listening experience offered here is certainly one that stretches beyond our previous improvising understandings as listeners.  This is a sonic journey that travels through some fascinating and beautiful new improvised terrain and offers a totally unique and rewarding listening experience.  Enjoy the ride."

We couldn't agree more.  This disc comes with our highest recommendation.
