Vieles
Ist Eins Vieles Ist Eins presents bassist Joscha Oetz in a collection of improvised music in solo and duo settings culled from his creative investigation of the form over the last two years. This recording also documents Oetz and Phillips ongoing collaborations which they have termed "Two Generations of Contrabass." Oetz's sound is based on openness as opposed to traditionalism/purism/ignorance. Defining a personal and authentic sonic identity is the goal. Reflection on a big variety of roots and influences is the base. These styles are not necessarily reflected audibly in the sense of quoting, but become a part of a unique musical language. Comes highly recommended 10 tracks in 58:17 minutes. Free improvisation is the avnat-gard's final staging post before the abyss of raw noise...very challenging, and we don't say that lightly. -- Duncan Bell, Muzik Abstract, challenging improv without all the egotistical onanism. -- Wreck This Mess, Radio 100 Fans of Barre Phillips and Peter Kowald should lend an ear. This album is strong. -- Francois Couture, All Music Guide More Accretions One Final Note Review :::>>> Tell A Friend About This CD From Drimala If you like this cd, you might also enjoy listening to: Red Sauce Baby (Hans Fjellestad) Going To Church (Maneri Ensemble) 98 Duets (Jeb Bishop) Mirrors Broken But No Dust (Smith and Kowald) Buddy Systems (Gino Robair duets) Is It Because I'm Black (Vattel Cherry) Three October Meetings (Fuchs, Bryerton, Smith) Hill Music (Emergency String Quartet) Caspar (Klaus Janek) Desert Sweets (Vinkeloe, Weaver, Smith) Commandment (Billy Bang) Double Double (Wright, Rainey, Marsh, Lonberg-Holm) MBEK (Bisio and Kang) Monsun (Malcolm Goldstein and Peter Niklas Wilson) The Experiment (Dominc Duval and Jason Kao Hwang) No Waiting (Derek Bailey and Joëlle Léandre) The Mouse That Roared (Matt Turner) Double Indemnity (Honsinger, Kondo, Toop, Beresford) |
