To Launch This release features 3 solo tracks recorded in London and Chicago along with a fourth large ensemble track that was recorded at his 2001 Spectral Soprano launch party that didn't happen...hence the title of the orchestra. (The cd was originally scheduled to come out on a different label from Emanem.) As always, the man is the consummate solo improvisor and this makes a very nice companion release to Spectral Soprano no matter what the circumstances for how it all came about. Martin describes in the liner notes about listening to Coxhill for over 30 years and the music still sounding fresh, and we couldn't agree more. Comes highly recommended. 4 tracks in 77:22 minutes "Coxhill has opted for a canny open-mindedness about genre, embracing the risks of spontaneity." -- Clive Bell, The Wire :::>>> Tell A Friend About This CD From Drimala If you like this cd, you might also enjoy listening to: Spectral Soprano (Coxhill) Chicago Solo (Evan Parker) Lines Burnt In Light (Evan Parker) Live At Unity Temple (Steve Lacy) Ayn Le-Any (Assif Tsahar) A Survivor's Smile (Gary Hassay) Nation Time (McPhee) |
