Wrapped Islands
   Polwechsel with Christian Fennesz
   Christian Fennesz (guitars, synthesizer)
John Butcher (tenor and soproano saxophones)
   Werner Dafeldecker (bass, guitar, electronics)
   Michael Moser (cello, computer)
   Burkhard Stangl (guitars, electronics)

This cd represents the first encounter between two of the driving forces in contemporary electroacoustic music.  The quartet, Polwechsel, have been exploring the gray areas between composition, improvisation, electronics, acoustics, jazz and classical music for almost a decade.  While Christian Fennesz maybe the most prominent of the current European laptop musicians.

Representing completing improvised compositions recorded over three days, Wrapped Islands, is extraordinarily subtle, illusory in its simplicity, but runs as deep as the waters around the islands.  And like the light reflecting off the water, each new listen reveals a new shade of colour not previously heard.

Comes with our highest recommendation.
