Noah
Howard at Documenta IX This reissue of a Megadisc European release features a 1992 live recording when Noah got his old quartet back together at the avant garde art and performance festival, Documenta IX, in Kassel, Germany for a special reunion concert. Since the mid-1950s, every five years, the town of Kassel has hosted Documenta to showcase "a comprehensive survey and interpretation of the state of contemporary art." This recording marked the return to recordings after a long hiatus in the 1980s for Howard. What unfolded in this July 1992 performance was a complete magic circle cast by Noah has he resuscitating his favorite musical terrain....a mixture of free jazz to gospel and all through a very refined vision of the free-form. And this time, treating his listeners to his tenor sax work as well. This is Boxholder's third release in their ongoing project of documenting Howard's music. For a clear window on Noah at the height of his early 90's sound, this is absolutely a must-have recording. 8 tracks in 55:24 minutes :::>>> Tell A Friend About This CD From Drimala If you like this cd, you might also enjoy listening to: Live At the Unity Temple (Howard, Few, Morris, Duncan) Red Star (Noah Howard, Kenny Clarke, Bobby Few) Spirit House (Jemeel Moondoc and Jus Grew Orchestra) Vivid (Kali Fasteau) Southern Extreme (Jordan, Futterman, Fielder) Stable Chaos (Rosco Blur Quartet) Underground Railroad (Joe McPhee Quartet) 19 Moons (Faruq Z.
