   Dennis Gonzalez (trumpet)
   Yusef Komunyakaa (poetry, voice)
   Mark Deutsch (bass, sitar)
   Susie Ibarra (drums)
   Sugar Blue (harmonica)

Pulitzer laureate Komunyakaa takes center stage here with longtime collaborator, Gonzalez, backed by a group of sympathetic top flight musicians who share his "heavy love for jazz."  One of the real highlights here is legendary Sugar Blue's  (best known for the unforgettable riff on the Rolling Stones' "Miss You") moaning harmonica work reminding us once again that it really does all comes down to the blues.

A beautiful melding of the blues, poetry, and jazz, this one gets our highest recommendation.
