A breakthrough recording....maybe, but certainly an affirmation of the power of music when stripped of pretense.  Or, as Amiri Baraka writes in the liners, a much needed "new wave."  The music here is raw, simple, and strong.  And it is oh so refreshing to hear music in its most simplest form of pure rhythm, melody, and harmony played at this level without agendas, without issues of genre and style.

Putting this one on is like getting out the old LPs and wondering where it all went wrong in so many ways.  Comes with our highest recommendation.
