Mask
   Jeff Gauthier (violins)
   Nels Cline (guitars)
   David Witham (piano)
   Joel Hamilton (bass)
   Alex Cline (drums)

Mask is Jeff's third disc as a leader and by far his strongest yet.  From a group that Jeff has worked steady since 1991, the best word for this recording is "impeccable."  The sound is crisp and superbly clean.   Jeff has a way of developing the melody without cliches or other ornamentation that is rarely heard today.

Comes highly recommended.

"Unashamedly pretty music.  The beauty is often stark, sometimes containing exquisite stillness, then at times is bright and Methenian.  This is lovely music presented without an agenda or axe to grind, just for our enjoyment." -- John Chacona, Signal to Noise

"Mask follows the path suggested by such patron saints of creative music as Lester Bowie and others who made serious, important groundbreaking music, but also made it fun.  Intricate enough that it continues to hold surprises."  Dusted
