Ballad for Miles

How interesting can an hour of solo trumpet be....seriously interesting in the hands of a master like Ragin.  Although an acclaimed member of the David Murray Octet and Roscoe Mitchell's Note Factory, Ragin has been quietly developing his own sound far from the lights in the cities he has most been associated with, Detroit and Chicago.

Under documented as a leader and completely unexposed as a soloist, Hopscotch has done us all a great favor with this disc.  On this recording, Ragin brings to life the depth and breadth of his aesthetic, always based in the tradition, but never a slave to it.

Comes with our highest recommendation.
