Assif continues to explore the world of large sound with his latest cd.  Unlike his last recording with the Zoanthropic Orchestra, the NY Underground is heavy on the strings, reflecting his continued development as both a composer and conductor.  Residing on the back lot of some sound stage, the music seems to come from a movie that you can't quite place.

Comes highly recommended.
